To educate qualified technicians in machinery and metal technologies who can use current technologies effectively, uphold ethical values and occupational health and safety principles, continuously improve their professional skills, and develop innovative solutions to industrial problems.

About the Programme

The Machinery Programme at Hacettepe ASO 1st OIZ Vocational School educates machinery technicians who can work in the fields of design, manufacturing, maintenance and repair, measurement, and quality control.

Students have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in workshops, laboratories, and real production environments. In addition to technical knowledge, the programme places importance on problem-solving, professional ethics, environmental awareness, occupational health and safety, and adaptation to technological developments.

What Will You Learn?

The programme primarily provides education in the following areas:

  • Machining and non-machining manufacturing methods
  • Technical drawing and computer-aided design
  • CAD–CAM applications
  • CNC turning and CNC milling operations
  • Materials science and material inspection
  • Measurement and quality control
  • Maintenance and repair techniques
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Reverse engineering
  • Destructive and non-destructive testing
  • Advanced manufacturing technologies

This educational structure enables students to become familiar with the key processes involved in a product’s lifecycle, from design and manufacturing to inspection and maintenance.

Practice-Oriented Education

Theoretical and computer-aided courses are conducted in the classrooms and laboratories of our Vocational School, while practical courses are carried out in our workshops.

Workshop groups consist of approximately 12–15 students. This structure is designed to enable students to gain individual experience in filing, drilling, turning, milling, CNC turning, and CNC milling applications.

Before workshop and workplace applications, students receive occupational health and safety training. The materials, equipment, and personal protective equipment required for practical activities are provided by the Vocational School.

Digital Design and Manufacturing Facilities

The programme has a well-equipped laboratory for computer-aided design, manufacturing, and reverse engineering activities. In addition to 45 computers available for student use, the laboratory includes a three-dimensional printer, a CNC router, and an Artec Eva three-dimensional laser scanner.

Software such as TopSolid, SolidWorks, CATIA, and AutoCAD is used in CAD and CAM courses. Students learn the fundamental stages of modelling a component in a digital environment, preparing it for manufacturing, and transforming it into a physical product through practical applications.

Advanced Manufacturing Technologies

In addition to conventional manufacturing methods, the programme introduces students to current technologies such as:

  • Waterjet cutting
  • Laser and plasma cutting
  • Wire electrical discharge machining
  • Three-dimensional manufacturing
  • Reverse engineering

Some of these subjects are addressed in the real production environments of cooperating companies. Industry professionals also meet with students at certain times to share their experience regarding manufacturing technologies, professional expectations, and working life.

Professional Experience at the Heart of Industry

The location of our Vocational School within ASO 1st Organized Industrial Zone enables students to become closely familiar with production environments and industrial companies.

Within the scope of workplace-based training, students are assigned to company units suited to their interests and abilities. Their placement in companies and the monitoring of their professional development are carried out by the relevant academic and administrative units.

Students who wish to participate may also take a vocational aptitude test assessing areas such as three-dimensional perception, the use of tools and machinery, arithmetic reasoning, and manual dexterity. The results may be used to support guidance related to elective courses and workplace-based training placements.

Depending on their knowledge, skills, and workplace experience, graduates of the Machinery Programme may work in the following areas:

  • Machining and CNC production
  • Production planning
  • Maintenance and repair
  • Quality control and measurement
  • Technical drawing and CAD–CAM applications
  • Material control and inspection
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Technical service and production support units
  • Automotive, defence, machinery, metal, and supplier industries

The programme does not guarantee employment. However, through practice-oriented education and workplace experience, it supports students in becoming familiar with working life before graduation and developing professional connections.

According to İŞKUR–BAPSİS data, more than 83% of our graduates are employed, and 62% secure employment within the first six months after graduation. A significant proportion of our graduates work in Türkiye’s leading defence industry companies.

Continuing to a Bachelor’s Degree

Graduates may apply for transfer to eligible bachelor’s degree programmes through the Vertical Transfer Examination, subject to the conditions specified in the relevant year’s ÖSYM guide.

As eligible programmes and quotas may change from year to year, applicants should consult the most recent DGS guide published by ÖSYM.
